Just back from the Opening Week of Rencontres d'Arles (https://www.rencontres-arles.com/Home). Had a great time visiting most of the main exhibitions and a few from the Festival Voies Off (the alternative or fringe event). Loved the Stephen Shore exhibition and managed to catch his talk at the showing. The Martin Parr exhibits were imaginatively displayed. The 'find' were the early 20th century ethnographic images from Martin Gusinde in Tierra del Fuego,; they made me wonder where some of the Bauhaus costume design ideas may have originated...(but maybe it's just coincidence?).
If you like natural history and landscapes then this is probably not the place for you, but the range of contemporary, urban, and documentary images was inspiring.
Have posted some images taken on iPhone from around the town on the opening week. Plan to post a gallery of other images soon.
Definitely planning to go next year......(please)
